The Australian Government provides assistance to families to access affordable high quality childcare through the Child Care Benefit (CCB) scheme. Families attending St Kilda East Child Care Centre are also eligible for a further 30% Child Care Rebate for out-of-pocket expenses incurred.

I am not currently working, studying or training, am l still eligible for CCB?

Yes, you are still eligible for up to 24 hours, the equivalent of 2 full days per week. For more than 2 days of subsidised care, you must pass the governments Work/Training/Study Test.

How is CCB and the 30% Child Care Rebate Paid?

CCB is paid directly to your child care provider which in turn reduces your fee. Your 30% rebate must be claimed in your tax return. If you choose not to claim your CCB as reduction in your fees, you may also claim this in your tax return.

How much CCB will l receive?

CCB is means tested, based on your family income.

How is the 30% Child Care Rebate calculated?

The 30% Child Care Rebate is calculated on your out-of-pocket expenses.
